Liz West has a bright and inspiring new installation at the Natural History Museum! The project entitled, Our Spectral Vision, was built for the the exhibition, Colour and Vision: Through the Eyes of Nature, and will be on display until the end of November. Inspired by Isaac Newton’s experiment utilizing prisms to explore white light, Liz explains: “The iridescent patterns and colourings present on the birds, insects and animals in the Natural History Museum collection have inspired the variety and selection of colours in this artwork. The science behind the natural processes of colour researched here at the Museum has provided the backbone for my work.”
