Art | Joana Vasconcelos

Typically associated with grandmothers, the art of crochet is having a rebirth via the help of Portuguese artist, Joana Vasconcelos. Her webbed creations of beauty encase objects both large and small from statues to grand pianos. Now through September 25th, the Haunch of Venison gallery in London will transport us to the world created by Vasconcelos in a show titled, I Will Survive, based on the 1978 Gloria Gaynor song. Don’t miss out on the Garden of Eden – an installation which takes up an entire room and consists of interactive, multi-sensory, fiber optic, glowing botanical forms. This could be our future paradise.
