Lost & Found

At first glance you might assume these drawings were created on a computer. But, on closer inspection you’ll find that each is hand drawn using only graph paper, colored inks, a compass and straight edge. These complex patterns of kaleidoscopic radiance were the secret past time obsession of Eugene Andolsek for over 50 years. Just like so many other folk artists, Andolsek used his artwork as a form of therapy and escapism from his daytime profession as a stenographer. Not viewing himself as an artist, Andolsek set aside his drawings to collect in the closet until a caregiver recognized their uniqueness. Check out more of his work at the American Primitive Gallery as well as others like him.
