Spring 11: Color Blocking

Color blocking has hit the runway in a big way. For Brazilian designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch, it was in a moving patchwork of pixel-inspired red, blue and yellow blocks. And, as if to punctuate this as a summer collection, he included blue-on-blue sunglasses. Does anyone else have that cheesy Timbuk3 song running through their head now?

Ohne Titel, Lela Rose (x2), VPL

The color blocking trend continues in the collections of Ohne Titel, Lela Rose, VPL. Ohne Titel constructs sharp definition, Lela Rose plays with feminine stripes and VPL uses diagonals in casual fabrics.

If Alexandre Herchcovitch’s color blocks didn’t wake you up, then these geometrics might run you over. Prabal Gurung’s color blocks are full of movement and super-hero strength.
