From the runways of Paris to the parties of Portland, plaids are everywhere these days, especially the black and white variety. From left, Diane Von Furstenberg Resort 09 collection features a classic plaid on a flirty sexy dress. Bernhard Willhelm shows a piece that is so wearable and cool, I’m already at Forever 21 hunting down the knock-off. Next we come to the Marni pieces, soft and elegant. YSL, classic, naughty, and would ya look at that Palin up-do! (all the YSL girls were up-done gop-style.) Marc Jacobs uses plaid to evoke some sort of Prairie-Peasant-African look. “It was a mash-up to end all mash-ups,” says Nicole Phelps of Style.com. And finally, Dries Van Noten uses a stark graphic plaid to accent a very sophisticated look. But it wasn’t just black and white plaids we are seeing everyone, it’s all colors and variations. How 90’s, how cozy! –Claudia
