Alexander McQueen, Fall 09
TrendsWhat can I say really? It’s part Leigh Bowery, part everything else that fashion has ever done, plus McQueen’s bombastic, irreverent, limitless imagination. Regarding the controversy currently brewing over whether this show was misogynistic, I’d say it’s more about S and M, which to me implies consent. Misogynistic fashion to me, is about lack of comfort, private parts peeking and falling out, and high high heels that hurt like a bitch. This show, I’m seeing theater and drama, which is much more than can be said for most shows this season, and McQueen’s trademark obsession with the gothier side of sexuality. Also, most of these pieces look surprizingly comfortable and cocoon-like.
