A meeting place for the artistic and intellectual enclave known as the Bloomsbury Group, Charleston Farmhouse, set in East Sussex, boasted hand painted interiors by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell. Grant and Bell’s unique decorative style also appeared on textiles, ceramics, and furniture for the Omega Workshops. This bohemian take on interiors crosses over into fashion with Christopher Bailey, head designer for Burberry Prorsum, siting it as an on-going influence for his collections. His latest menswear collection incorporates loose, painterly leaves and florals while bags are fashioned out of rugs which could easily have covered the floors of Charleston.
