There was a shopping mall
Now it’s all covered with flowers
you’ve got it, you’ve got it

If this is paradise
I wish I had a lawnmower
you’ve got it, you’ve got it

–Talking Heads, (Nothing But) Flowers

You know those spaces where nature and man-made collide? The median strip in the center of a roadway or the edge of a development that spills into wilderness becomes the subject matter for artist, Aaron Rothman. For this series, Nothing But Flowers, Rothman digitally removes anything not illuminated by sunlight to create meadow-like patterns of nature. The flat use of color attempts to freeze the elements with the hope of bringing order to the uncontrolled chaos of the natural world.
