Maison Martin Margiela Couture SP14 | Watts Towers

Draped with a bricolage of found beads, doodads, and crystals, the garments and head pieces at Maison Martin Margiela’s couture collection remind us so much of the naïve-style, cement towers created by Simon Wadia in Los Angeles. Known as the Watts Towers, these architectural assemblages are composed of 17 interconnected structures made from steel pipes, mortar, tile, glass, and ceramic shards. Constructed between 1921 and 1954, the towers are also decorated with found objects such as scrap metals, sea shells, and bottles.
