Art | Web of Threads

From a distance the installation pieces of Mexican artist, Gabriel Dawe, appear to be projections of light. But, on closer inspection, these radiating colors are generated by thousands of threads stretched between wooden beams. Frustrated by the constraints of his graphic design course, Dawe began creating artwork using looms reserved in the past for artisan crafts such as rugs and wall hangings. His thread works bring a modern touch to this age-old craft.
