Day one of NYFW’s Fall 2012 collections shaped up quite nicely.  Many new designers are making the non-tradition of presentations and lookbooks, as opposed to the expected runway shows, the new tradition.  A very current and lovely color palette with beautiful vintage-inspired prints starred in Derek Lam‘s collection, while Tanya Taylor’s debut collection was full of luxurious textiles and strong tailored looks.  Gretchen Jones gave stunning southwestern-inspired prints and textures, Jil Sander Navy gave us the updated 60’s mod we’re all craving, and Lauren Moffatt took her presentation to The Old School in Nolita to showcase her fresh school girl patterned duds.
