The Plumen 001 may appear to be just another lowly light bulb, but in fact this original, sculpted eco-bulb is the winner of  2011’s much coveted Brit Insurance Design of the Year Award. Designed by Samuel Wilkinson and created by Hulger, the curved, structural light is the world’s very  first designer light bulb and is to be sold for around £20 as a practical ‘design object’. Consisting of two interwoven tubes of glass, the Plumen 001 curves from every viewpoint, creating a variety of patterns and shapes that indulge the eye.
