Interiors | Chelsea's Glocalisation Project
Inspiration
Chelsea College of Art & Design has teamed up with South African charity Monkeybiz and UK furniture retailer Made.com to raise money for HIV sufferers using traditional South African textile methods. CCAD’s textile students were taught the beautifully intricate technique of bead work and asked to create four interior panels to sell on Made.com. Amongst the four winners of the Glocalisation project, Kate Lawson‘s Applique panels really stood out with their metallic hues and swaying textures, offering strong forms that could be interpreted as stylised maps or unsettled seascapes.
