Opening Ceremony

The September issue of Elle features a three-page story about Opening Ceremony and its founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, who enjoy a sort of cult rock star following for their unique and daring approach to retail. They’ve nurtured designers like Alexander Wang and Rodarte and helped launch their careers, while bringing overseas brands like Havaianas, TopShop, and Tsumori Chisato to the mainstream consciousness of the U.S. consumer. They are also pioneers in the resurrgence of American heritage brands like Pendleton, Timberland, and Redwings. Their collaborations with the brands started a huge trend that can be seen all over the country.

Seen above are my favorite styles from their current online offerings. And, check out the Elle story. It’s full of good quotes and interesting insights about the innovative but un-pretentious attitudes behind the phenomenon known as Opening Ceremony.
