Verhoeven's Visuals

Verhoeven for Versace, Spring 2009

British illustrator, Julie Verhoeven, is a fashion favorite. Her work has appeared on limited edition bags for Louis Vuitton, a capsule clothing collection for Mulberry, and advertising campaigns for Cacharel. She headed the Italian fashion house, Gibo, for a couple of seasons and created surreal pieces which incorporated her whimsical illustrations. For Spring 2009, her fanciful artwork makes its way to the runway again and appears on gowns and swim suits for Versace. Reworking the iconic Medusa head, Verhoeven creates a print feast by collaging together drawings of shells, sea animals, jewels, and heads. The cacophony of visuals is like an inspiration board that will keep our minds percolating through the winter months to come.
