Collab: Ken Done + Something Else

Something Else is a street-smart label from Down Under that is known for collaborating with artists to achieve their smart and innovative prints.  This time, they’ve chosen an unlikely collab partner in the form of Ken Done, an Aussie icon synonymous with the 80s,  and tourist-charming tchotchkes.  For their SS12 collection, the designers of Something Else have used portions of Done’s new underwater series and manipulated color and repeat to achieve a more updated look.  Although the end result bears little resemblance to the original art, it is still an impressive modernization and recontext of an artist that is so iconic to Australian culture, bringing the old and new together seamlessly.  The collection is currently being shown at the Ken Done Gallery, along with Done’s paintings.
