When I first saw these, I had no doubt that they were paintings. But in fact they are manipulated photos brought to you by fashion photographer, Nick Knight, who has spent the last few decades shooting high concept editorial spreads for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, I-D Magazine, V Magazine, and Vogue just to name a few. For the past ten years, he has been working on this series of large scale photos (called Flora) which he manipulates using various combinations of heat, chemical, and water treatments during the printing process. The resulting images are dark, beautiful and mysterious.
